I started playing with a pair of chopsticks, pots,
pans, dishes and books. After breaking
several sets of my mother’s dining ware my
parents bought me a practice pad and a pair
of drumsticks. Shortly after this I got a drum
set.
The next step was lessons. I learned the
rudiments of drumming, how to count and read
music then began an amazing experience in
the art and expression of drumming.
I have been playing for over 20 years,
teaching for 5 and have extensive experience
performing, competing in drum-offs, recording
(studio work), and touring the U.S. with support
from various record labels.
Drumming has taught me so much about many
areas of life. From learning the rules, to
learning how to let go of the rules when the
rhythm takes hold. Drumming has been my
most influential education, both receiving and
giving. I teach beginning through
intermediate/advanced with an emphasis on
creative co-ordination and absolutely love the
process of musical growth and creativity that
each student discovers.
